If you have had unprotected sex, or if your regular method of contraception has failed, at Crest Pharmacy, we offer a professional, discreet, and non-judgemental service to help you make the right choice for your health.
How The Service Works: Discreet, non-judgemental service
Emergency contraception can help prevent an unplanned pregnancy. It is vital to act quickly, as these medications are most effective when taken as soon as possible after the event.

Aftercare
We can offer advice on regular long-term contraception.
We provide two main types of emergency hormonal contraception (the "morning after pill"). During your private consultation, our pharmacist will help determine which is most suitable based on how much time has passed since unprotected sex and your medical history.
Levonorgestrel (Levonelle): This must be taken within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex. It works by preventing or delaying ovulation. The sooner it is taken, the higher the success rate.
Ulipristal Acetate (EllaOne): This is effective for up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. It is often considered more effective than Levonorgestrel because it can work much closer to the time of ovulation.

No. The morning after pill works by delaying the release of an egg (ovulation). If you are already pregnant, the pill will not interrupt the pregnancy.
Most women do not experience side effects. However, some may feel slightly sick, have a headache, or notice changes to their next period (it may be earlier, later, or more painful than usual).
While highly effective, the morning after pill is not as reliable as regular contraception. If you vomit within three hours of taking the pill, you will need to return to the pharmacy for another dose.
Yes. If you are worried about your regular contraception failing in the future (for example, if you are going on holiday), you can purchase the morning after pill in advance to keep in your medical kit.
